What Education Books Will You Read to Learn and Grow as an Educator in 2019?

The more I live, the more I learn. The more I learn, the more I realize, the less I know.” ― Michel Legrand

Happy 2019! One of my resolutions is to push myself to learn and grow as an educator. I've always loved reading, but I have not made enough time to read some very inspiring books connected to teaching and learning. I am budgeting more time in 2019 to explore more educational books.

I've decided to start 2019 with these 5 Books.

Empower: What Happens When Students Own Their Learning
"In Empower, A.J. Juliani and John Spencer provide teachers, coaches, and administrators with a roadmap that will inspire innovation, authentic learning experiences, and practical ways to empower students to pursue their passions while in school."

"The authors use progressive design principles to inform pathways to disrupt traditions of education today and show you how to make innovations real that will have a timeless and meaningful impact on students, keeping alive the natural curiosity and passion for learning with which children enter school."

Student-Driven Differentiation: 8 Steps to Harmonize Learning in the Classroom
"Full of just-in-time, step-by-step guidance, this book shows you how to incorporate student voice and choice in the process of planning for student-driven differentiation. This unique approach is based on building collaborative student-teacher relationships as a precursor to student growth."

"This title is a greatly expanded volume of the original Art and Science of Teaching, offering a competency-based education framework for substantive change based on Dr. Robert Marzano's 50 years of education research. While the previous model focused on teacher outcomes, the new version places focus on student learning outcomes, with research-based instructional strategies teachers can use to help students grasp the information and skills transferred through their instruction."

10 Mindframes for Visible Learning: Teaching for Success
"These powerful mindframes, which should underpin every action in schools, are founded on the principle that teachers are evaluators, change agents, learning experts, and seekers of feedback who are constantly engaged with dialogue and challenge."

I will also continue to update and maintain this Educational Book Site to organize and share some great books connected to teaching and learning.

Have an idea for our next featured book? Have something to say about one of the books in this post? Please share in the comments below.
