Collection of Digital Communication Resources for Teachers and Learners

Supporting the 4Cs in Learner-Centered Classrooms
We speak not only to tell other people what we think, but to tell ourselves what we think. Speech is a part of thought.” ― Oliver Sacks

My "why" for teaching and learning is centered on how the 4 Cs can be used to support student growth and engagement in my classroom. I believe skills connected to creativity, critical thinking, communication, and collaboration must be skills that students practice throughout the process of learning.

I have long believed that my content should support the development of student skills connected to the 4 Cs of collaboration, communication, critical thinking, and creativity.

Today, I wanted to share our updated collection of digital resources to support digital communication skills in our classrooms.

Supporting the 4Cs in Learner-Centered Classrooms
"An education isn't how much you have committed to memory, or even how much you know. It's being able to differentiate between what you do know and what you don't." - Anatole France

Developing a Future Ready Classroom With the 4 Cs

Future-ready classrooms need to do more than just "teach" content to learners. I am not saying that content doesn't matter, but I believe that our education system can do a better job using content to engage students in building and practicing essential skills. Instead of teaching content, use content to help students develop essential skills connected to learning and real life.

Creativity is the foundation of most lessons and activities I design for my students. I try to be mindful that everything I create for my students needs to start with the idea that creating needs to be part of the learning process. In addition to creativity, I also place a high value on the related skills of collaboration, critical thinking, and communication.

I believe a focus on the 4 Cs not only helps my students learn, but it also helps my students practice essential life skills as we engage in and explore our content.

Today I want to share some resources we've curated to support the 4 Cs. We've also organized a free document that could be used to engage staff in some self-paced professional development opportunities connected to each of the 4 Cs.

Student Engagement - Asking Questions and Being Curious About Images

I am always challenging my students to ask better questions and to be curious enough to explore new ideas. Unfortunately, this is not a skill many are able to or willing to practice without my constant encouragement. I do my best to always try to build the opportunity for students to ask in most of our daily activities.

Today I wanted to share one of our favorite activities connected to questions, curiosity, and visuals. "What's Going on with this Image?

Collection of Formative Assessment Resources for Teachers and Students

You Don't Know What You Don't Know and Sometimes You Don't Know What You Know!

I believe the best learning experiences focus on process over product. The challenge for me has always been to convince students that I would rather focus on the learning experience over what they turn in. This is why formative assessments are a big part of my classroom plans.

Today, I wanted to share some essential digital assessment resources we've explored over the years.
